As a School Board Trustee, David Kauffman will work tirelessly for excellence, equity, and engagement.

Equity and Excellence

  • Equity and excellence in academic performance and whole child development for all students with a demonstrated commitment to historically underserved communities through
    • Engaging and rigorous curriculum & instruction for all,
    • Effective and inclusive Special Education services in compliance with state and federal law,
    • Effective and accessible additive Multilingual Education programming in compliance with state and federal law,
    • Strategies developed with and for Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities,
    • Social Emotional Learning (SEL),
    • Visual and performing arts,
    • Athletics and physical education,
    • Mental health services, and
    • Community service opportunities.

Staff Morale and Retention

  • Staff compensation and benefits.
  • Collaboration with government and community agencies to help district employees afford to live in the city where they work.
  • Empowering staff as true partners in identifying and solving challenges and making decisions.
  • Reducing paperwork and extra responsibilities.

Public School Funding

  • Advocacy for improved public school financing by the Texas Legislature to reduce the negative impact of recapture on AISD and to improve educational outcomes for all children in Texas.
  • Collaborative and responsible development of bond proposals

School Safety

  • Effective security measures that improve safety without undermining learning environments.
  • Well-maintained facilities.
  • Effective and fair approaches to student conduct that are restorative, that do not result in disproportionate applications of disciplinary actions, and that disrupt the “school-to-prison pipeline”.

District Values

  • Accountability for all district representatives, including trustees, adhering to district values, including
    • Educational equity,
    • Meaningful engagement of all voices, and
    • A culture of respect, transparency, and data-informed decision-making.
